He that holdeth fast unto his convictions shall never count betrayal amongst his crimes, though all the world may call him villain. My path is unchanged; my creed sacrosanct. This I believe with all my heart.

ACTIVE TIMES/PACE: GMT, predominantly evenings and weekends, but if I’m awake I’ve at least one device connected to the internet to hand

BRACKETS/PROSE: I'm pretty flexible – I'll generally match whoever I'm writing with, and revert to prose-style 3rd person present tense otherwise. Combat is very much outside my usual comfort zone, as is anything in the smutty/sexy realm, so expect those kind of tags to take a little longer. If you're ever not sure what I'm saying, please ask - I know Urianger’s speech pattern can be a little tricky!

OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS & TRIGGERS: I'm pretty easy-going when it comes to most things, but have a few major triggers around institutional mental health settings, and in particular electroconvulsive therapy (and by extension things like electric chairs, cattle prods or shock collars; magic-based lightning is fine, as are fantasy weapons that call lightning damage, it's specifically medical or disciplinary context that squicks me out). I can deal with references to this sort of content (I'm aware they're kind of horror staples) but if it's going to be something inflicted on a character I'm actively playing (or happen in front of my character to someone they care about) I'd appreciate a heads up ahead of time and may ask to FTB/timeskip if it gets too much for me. I’m also recently (May 2022) unexpectedly widowed, so I may have periods where my mental health nosedives (significant anniversaries, for example) and I’m less able to cope with conversations centered around bereavement / traumatic death etc.

IN CHARACTER
PHYSICAL AFFECTION: Don't expect him to take it well unless you’ve built up substantial trust and affection from his end (and even then, he is far more comfortable with private, rather than public, affection), but feel free to try!

PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: Sure. He’s a pasty nerd who mostly relies on magic, though, so don’t expect a challenging opponent

RELATIONSHIPS: He’s a demiromantic grey-ace currently processing the traumatic death of one childhood friend and sort-of sweetheart (it’s complicated), the period spent queer-platonically co-parenting with another childhood friend, his increasing comfort with his own identity, and the recently averted apocalypse. It’s not a blanket no, but you’re very definitely playing on hard mode

PSYCHIC & PSIONIC INFORMATION: Actively gives very little away and is likely to ping as relatively uninteresting (something I’m basing on the fact he’s never triggered an Echo Vision for the Warrior of Light, where the other Scions have, suggesting his soul is at least a little more shielded than average); a protracted dig, however? Hot damn, this thing sure can hold a lot of guilt and self-loathing

MAGICAL INFORMATION: Urianger is an Arcanist (basically, does magic by putting aether into geometric sigils, predominantly centered around summoning crystalline constructs and inflicting or undoing biological damage) and Astrologian (does magic by invoking the correspondences of the Deck of Sixty, predominantly centered around minor manipulation of time, fate and gravity); in addition, he’s begun combining the two disciplines into a new third form, tentatively named Lithomancy, to allow him to use both skillsets at the same time

MEDICAL INFORMATION: A relatively healthy 30-ish year old, albeit one who sleeps at his desk more often than in his bed, squints at a lot of obscure texts, and drinks far too much tea. The supernaturally-perceptive might be able to tell that his soul is about 3 years older than his body, and both have been destroyed and rebuilt at least once.

OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS & TRIGGERS: Topics that might come up include guilt (including survivor’s guilt and related disregard for his own survival), active suicidal ideation, bereavement, figuring out identity, neurodivergence, and lying/deception. More generally, the setting he’s from includes apocalypse-scale events, bioweapons, colonialism/imperialism and associated ideas of racial superiority, brainwashing/forced conversion, torture, nonconsensual medical experimentation and body horror. Just let me know if there’s anything there you’d like me to avoid! In terms of things likely to trigger Urianger himself, his main phobia is drowning (he doesn’t know how to swim) and his sense of worth/usefulness is so intrinsically tied to his intelligence the prospect of losing that terrifies him.

OUT OF CHARACTER
BACKTAGGING: Hey, RL happens and usually trumps pretend funtimes. Also, I'm on GMT and GMT is dumb (though I keep weird hours at the weekend, mostly to enable this sort of nonsense). Absolutely fine, though if world-plot's moved on substantially I'd ask you don't drop any major unexpected bombs that should probably have influenced things between “then” and “now”

THREADHOPPING: Fine with me unless it's marked closed

FOURTHWALLING: Sure, if there’s a reason for them to know

NOT INTERESTED IN: PWP or similar, protracted queer-, ace- or ND-phobic interactions

FIRST IMPRESSIONS
VISUAL: Reference sheet here. He is an elezen (FFXIV’s elf equivalent) and stands about 6 foot 6.

AURAL / DEMEANOR: Example here (spoilers for FFXIV Endwalker)

OLFACTORY: This, plus tea
